Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder v1.41 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder is a freeware utility that retrieves your Product Key (cd key) used to install windows from your registry. It has the options to copy the key to clipboard, save it to a text file, or print it for safekeeping. It works on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Office 97, and Office XP. This version is a quick update to make it work with Windows Server 2003. Installation: 1) Unzip. 2) Run keyfinder.exe. Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder FAQ 1) Can I use this to pull the product key from my Microsoft Windows CD? No. All of the CDs are mass-produced from a single "gold" CD. Therefore they're all identical. They simply check the key that you enter to an algorithm to verify that it is valid. 2) Why would you need to be able to change the Windows key unless you have an illegal copy? I saw that Microsoft actually has instructions for changing the XP key and provides scripts for it, so I just integrated those scripts into the Keyfinder. I figure if they're willing to support it, there's no reason I shouldn't. This is helpful specifically for businesses that have copied an image of an installed system onto many different computers and want to change each to the correct key. 3) Why doesn't the Keyfinder support Office 2000? I cannot figure out how to find the key for Office 2000. If you have knowledge on how to extract the key, I will gladly support it in the Keyfinder. Please send info to jellybean@magicaljellybean.com. If you have source code to find the key, I will worship you, add support in the Keyfinder, and give you credit. 4) How do I use the Keyfinder to find the MS Office key? If a supported version of Office is detected, a tab will appear that says "Microsoft Office" for you to click on. If you don't have a supported version of Office installed, the tab won't appear. 5) I see the 'change key' option, but it's grayed out. Why? The Keyfinder only supports changing the keys in Windows 95, 98, ME, and XP. Windows 2000, NT, and Server 2003 aren't supported.
